    • A squirrel drops an acorn from a branch. From a nearby branch, a cardinal asks, "What are you doing? Don't you need to store those for the winter?" The acorn CLUNKs on the head of a male student below, as his female walking companion looks on, confused. As he uses a pencil to bring his tally to 7, the squirrel replies, "Yup... but this is so much more fun!"

    So much more fun
    December 5, 2007 (published) / May 12, 2012 (posted here)

This is the first time we see our favorite squirrel and cardinal together, and also is the inaugural occurrence of Skip-drops-an-acorn-on-someone’s-head, inspired by a few near misses of nuts falling out of trees near me while walking back from class.

This work originally appeared in the Cardinal Courier, the award-winning student-run newspaper at St. John Fisher College, between 2007 and 2011.
